The Fairemescourses.fr project was launched during the first confinement by entrepreneurs from Rouen. It allows small merchants to create their online stores for free. The idea was more than well received by traders forced to close shop.
Today, stores deemed “non-essential” are closing their doors again, so merchants are turning again to the site Fairemescourses.fr to continue selling their products online.
The platform went live at the end of April 2020. As of mid-June, a total of 61 companies offer 751 products, covering 415 cities. This completely voluntary project could have stopped there. It allows merchants to create stores for free, enter the products they sell, pickup or delivery conditions and payment methods. For their part, the consumer indicates their city of residence and immediately sees which merchants they can do business with near their home. Therefore, the town has a market with all local traders.
AS OF November 9, 2020, the platform covered nearly 16 cities and nearly 500 products are on sale. Arnaud Lermercier continues to develop the platform, especially for the future. With his wife, they plan to create an association that the local community can join. They explain: “For traders, the service must remain completely free.” The values of mutual aid and solidarity at the start of the project must persist for a certain time and continue to promote the development of local businesses.
