Gaia First: Revolutionary Ocean Depollution for Armada 2027

The NGO Gaia First announces its participation in the Rouen Armada 2027 with an ambitious ocean depollution project. Despite the absence of a boat and an official invitation, the Paris-based association surprises by revealing its plans for the Armada.

Their ship, intended to tackle continents of plastic, aims to protect marine biodiversity and the terrestrial environment. Although this announcement was made prematurely, a vice president of the organizing association expressed informal interest.

According to Gianni Valenti, president of Gaia First, the construction of the boat is inevitable and they will be present at the Armada. The NGO is already involved in ocean clean-up operations around the world, as well as in conferences to raise awareness of marine pollution. However, their ambitious project involves deploying ships capable of collecting plastic waste in areas of high concentration and transforming it into hydrogen energy, allowing them to power themselves during depollution.

This innovative approach would avoid costly fuel return trips, allowing continuous depollution. To realize this vision, Gaia First is working in collaboration with the Rina Group to adapt existing technology and develop a sustainable marine system. Their goal is to collect and convert 50 tons of plastic waste per day, thus decontaminating nearly 90% of the plastic continent of the Pacific in five years.

This ambitious project aroused the interest of Eric Daguzan, one of the vice-presidents of the Armada, during a meeting with the president of Gaia First. Although this initiative could potentially be incorporated into the event, nothing is officially confirmed yet. The need to act quickly to resolve the environmental crisis drives Gaia First to seek funding for their ship. They need to raise 750 euros to realize their vision, and if everything goes according to plan, the boat could be operational in around two years.”
