A reopening of the terraces soon?

We have been experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic for over a year. We recently had news about the possible reopening of terraces and other non-essential businesses. As the spread of the virus is still very active, this date was moved from May 3 to mid-May, without the day being specified. Emmanuel Macron is determined to do everything possible before the mid-May deadline. The president mentioned at the beginning of April that “the calendar of culture, sports, leisure, events and our cafes and restaurants will gradually reopen between mid-May and the beginning of summer”.

On March 16, the government proposed a plan to reopen restaurants, bars and cafes in three stages: Firstly hotel restaurants (breakfast and dinner). Then the opening of terraces, cafes and restaurants, at 50% of their maximum capacity and finally the reopening of indoor rooms. The plan will be subject to strict health protection rules and will be implemented based on the number of infections per day and the number of vaccinations.

The reopening of restaurants can also be done gradually in three stages: Restrictions will be lifted little by little, starting with the terraces at lunchtime, then in the evening and finally the indoor rooms. Concerning cultural places such as cinemas, theaters or even museums, they will gradually reopen depending on the departments. If the number of daily infections decreases and the number of people vaccinated increases we can envisage the reopening of most public places from mid-June. What a great summer vacation!
