News that will delight shopping enthusiasts: a Primark store should be installed soon in Rouen (Seine-Maritime). This will be the second store in Normandy for the low price brand, after that of Havre opened in February 2018, at Docks Vauban.
Primark in the former Duchamp-Villon theater
According to several sources close to the matter, an agreement was signed between the Saint-Sever center and the Irish sign. The store will be installed in the former Duchamp-Villon theater, which has a surface area of more than 5000m², and which was recently sold by the city to Saint-Sever.
The people of Rouen will however have to be patient, numerous works are to be planned before its opening which could, according to our information, occur in 2021. Furthermore, above all, the work must be validated by the municipality and also pass the filter of the Commission departmental commercial development department.
A great operation in any case to boost the shopping center, whose boss Gauthier Hardouin did not wish to confirm. However, he explains that his objective is “to attract major players” as part of the transformation of the center.
Looking for a location for several years
Contacted several times by 76news, the brand's communications department did not wish to comment on our information: "Primark does not comment on rumors concerning store openings."
However, Primark has been seeking to establish itself in Rouen for several years. It had once been considered an installation at the Espace du Palais or at the former Chamber of Commerce and Industry which would ultimately be converted into a luxury hotel. It was in Le Havre that the Irish brand finally found its first location in Normandy.
In the Ocean City, the Primark brand arrived on February 21, 2018. More than 30 people rushed into the store on this opening day alone. And the annual results of the Docks Vauban shopping center in Le Havre in 000 showed more than seven million visitors, compared to one million fewer the previous year.
