A Norman on the verge of achieving a feat!

The Norman navigator Philippe Delamare, native Criquebeuf-sur-Seine, is on the verge of achieving a feat: winning the “Global Solo Challenge”, a solo, non-stop sailing race around the world, aboard his sailboat Mowgli, a 46-foot Actual.

A titanic challenge

Left on September 29, Philippe Delamare has been fighting against the elements ever since. His journey was not easy: he suffered numerous damages, including the loss of its satellite antenna, its runners, an autopilot failure and damage to its mast.

An extraordinary sailor

Despite these difficulties, Philippe Delamare demonstrated remarkable energy and ingenuity in keep your boat racing and continue his journey. His courage and determination make him a real example of tenacity and perseverance.

A triumphant return to La Coruña

Le Norman navigator is expected Friday 23 February in La Coruña, where he will be welcomed as a hero. He will then join the very closed circle of sailors who have completed a solo circumnavigation and non-stop, and will become one of the twelve skippers to have won such a race.

Armada Rouen salutes its achievement

Jean-Paul Rivière, President of the Rouen Armada, congratulated Philippe Delamare for his exceptional feat: “The Rouen Armada is proud of this Norman sailor who, in extremely difficult conditions, demonstrated extraordinary courage and determination. His feat is a source of inspiration for all lovers of the sea and sailing.”
