No Armada 2019 for dogs. The organizers and the prefecture confirm that canines are not welcome on the quays of Rouen. The information did not reach the ears of dog owners.
Thursday June 6, the first day of the Armada, Dorothée from Rouen wanted, as she does daily, to take her dog for a walk on the quays. Except that she found herself face to face with two security guards who told her that the event was canidae non grata.
Stupor, annoyance and attempts at negotiation will not have changed anything, the walker and her four-legged companion were turned away. “I saw foreign tourists who were also banned from entering,” the Norman woman annoys, surprised to have never heard of this before. When contacted, the organizers confirmed the ban: “It has been said from the start and we have even indicated it in newsletters. This is an order from the prefecture in the name of general security. There is already a lot to do to avoid having to deal with possible bites or fights between animals.”

The prefecture confirms the decision formalized in a decree. And remember that only assistance dogs accompanying people with disabilities and police dogs are allowed on the event.
A decision taken upstream of the Armada on which communication has, in view of the testimonies flooding in on social networks, not reached the ears of animal owners who find themselves without an alternative solution and therefore unable to stroll along the quays. And no relaxation is envisaged.
