L’Atelier Lucien signed a lease allowing it to occupy the land of the future Saint-Sever SNCF station throughout the year. The new project called “ The Free Quarter of Rouen », will see the light of day on April 1, 2022. The agreement allowing the cooperative to occupy the future SNCF land at Saint-Sever station has expired. But since then, the railway company has launched a call for tenders for new occupants. The Lucien workshop, the only candidate, wins the competition and opens a new chapter.

What are the changes?

La Friche Lucien is over, but it is reinventing itself! La Friche Lucien was designed by architecture students, renamed under the name of Quartier Libre. Its aim is to create a real place to live for residents and a district of Rouen in its own right. For this its surface area doubles and goes from 4000 m² to 8000 m²! They will continue to bring a touch of pep to the left bank of Rouen. There you will find a coworking space, shared gardens, DIY workshops… They will offer a service of F&B. Finish the tissues at the end of each season, your free area will be open all year round.

What about Friche Lucien then?

You will still be able to find authentic elements of the wasteland, the aesthetic remains the same. There you will always find creative workshops and an inclusive openness. For the inauguration of the activities you will be offered on a plot of 5 m000. After'official, the different zones of the free district will open little by little.
