Come discover the history of the Flaubert family and medicine at the Flaubert Museum created in 1901.
It was in the pavilion of the Hotel Dieu, the official accommodation of his chief surgeon father, that the famous Gustave Flaubert was born on December 12, 1821.
A true cabinet of curiosities, here you will find many unique objects such as leech perches.
Evoking both Flaubert's youth and the medical history of the 11th century, the museum offers 10 permanent collection rooms and welcomes you from Tuesday to Saturday from 12 a.m. to 30:14 p.m. and from 18 p.m. to XNUMX p.m.

a month agoFascinating place which offers a unique dive into the history of medicine illustrating the evolution of medical practices over the centuries, I really like the combination between medicine/literature, the phrenology room reminds me a lot of the empirical ancestor neuroscience.

one year agoExcellent museum, very interesting, perfect for children and very well documented. Good explanations of the life of the family, of Gustave and the importance of the house for local health. I highly recommend. Allow 1h30 for the visit, carefully reading all the well-made signs.

a month agoExcellent museum, we discover the history of medicine, with a great section on dentistry and obstetrics. The staff is welcoming. Entrance was free (visit in August 2022) Can't wait to go back!

one year agoI love this museum, I have a personal interest in anatomical artifacts and the macabre. so well worth the visit. It would be nice if the shop had a few more postcards and a good book, more focused on the curious side of the museum
