This place full of natural history and science is more than just a museum.
In 1828, Adrien Charles Deshommets de Martainville became mayor of Rouen and founded the Rouen Natural History Museum. In addition to housing natural history specimens, the museum has resided at the Réunion des Musées Métropolitains Rouen Normandie since January 1, 2016. Its label is internationally recognized.
The Natural History Museum and the Departmental Museum of Antiquities occupy the entire ground floor of the building. Established in 1834 as a teaching space for students of medicine, botany and pharmacy. The Rouen museum opened its doors to the public that same year. According to a survey by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in 2000, the Museum has the richest and most diverse collection of scientific objects in the entire province. Currently, the collection contains approximately 798 pieces.

one year agoWonderful ! This museum in two parts (archaeology and natural history) really deserves to be more frequented. Magnificent Roman mosaics and many other historical wonders. The natural history museum is also very rich. I loved ! Free entry and easy access. I highly recommend ❤

one year agoThe museum is full of little wonders. Coupled with the museum of antiquities, it is a pleasure for young and old. The animals present are really interesting. It’s a fun place to do with the kids! Free admission.

10 months agoFree visit to the museum, friendly and smiling staff. A slightly aging museum where you are directly immersed in the place. Nevertheless, we must salute the work behind all these beasts. Well done Visit as a couple, we found ourselves surrounded by school children (I think). For peace and quiet and enjoying the place it wasn't great. Maybe schedule time slots for this kind of thing. Last admission 17:30 p.m.
