This week, Rouen is preparing to once again host one of the most anticipated events of the year: the Music Festival. This annual celebration, which will take place on wednesday 21 june, marks the return of this beloved tradition that brings thousands of people to the city streets to celebrate music in all its forms.

For decades, the Fête de la Musique has been an opportunity to come together and enjoy outdoor concerts throughout the night. The streets of Rouen will resonate with varied melodies, ranging from rock to jazz, including pop, reggae, classical music and many other genres. Amateur artists will also have the opportunity to reveal their talents during this unique evening.

The history of the Fête de la Musique dates back to 1982, when Jack Lang, Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon launched this initiative. They chose June 21 because of its connection to the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. Since then, this holiday has been celebrated with enthusiasm every year in many cities around the world.
