Notre-Dame de Rouen Cathedral is located in the center of the city and is one of the largest cathedrals in France. It was built in the middle of the 12th century on a Romanesque cathedral; its crypt has been preserved under the new building. The building benefits from classification under the monuments since the year 1862. The Gothic cathedral is a testimony to the art of medieval Europe. You can see all its phases in one place with a tour. The cathedral crypts are available for visits. (by reservation, at the Rouen tourist office).

2 weeks agoThis cathedral is a marvel, as beautiful and spectacular inside as it is outside. Not to be missed when you visit Rouen. We can only be admiring when we see this work, the time and the will it took at the time to build it with the rudimentary means at their disposal. You had to have faith!

less than a week agoMagnificent Cathedral, this fineness of the stone reminds me of lace. The originality of the stone staircase, the statutes of the apostles, but my favorite was for the carillon (the bells) which plays different melodies. Great discovery!

5 months agoDespite the somewhat neglected exterior appearance of the cathedral (the stone is really blackened with pollution), its architecture remains impressive. The sculptural details in the stone captivate the eye and tell a rich history of Gothic art. Inside, the exceptional acoustics create a captivating atmosphere, amplifying the spiritual grandeur of the place. It's a shame that many of the stained glass windows are replaced with simple pieces of white glass, as they generally add an artistic and colorful touch to the majesty of the cathedral. Despite these small imperfections, the cathedral remains a cultural treasure with an imposing presence.

5 months agoA superb and very impressive cathedral! The richness and intricacy of the exterior sculptures and high reliefs is extraordinary. Very beautiful paintings inside, as are often barely visible and maintained in religious buildings.

4 months agoVisit a month before Christmas, there are very beautiful decorations. The cathedral is easy to access with parking nearby. Once the visit is done you can go to the shopping streets of the city center. The buildings are beautiful and marked by history.
