The Brest group, in the middle of a series of concerts to celebrate its 30th anniversary, promises you an electrifying evening on Friday June 28. A little look back at the legendary group.
Matmatah and their Breton beginnings
Matmatah therefore takes its roots in Brest where Tristan Nihouarn (Stan) and Cédric Floc'h (Sammy) Jean-François Paillard (Fañch) and Éric Digaire (Éric) decide to found their music group. They performed in several places thanks to their covers and their first original creations but it was in 1996 that their group really became known by opening for the group FFF. Following this concert, the group, with influences of hard rock mixed with traditional Breton music, was able to establish itself in the Finistere region first and then throughout the country.
New members, new album, new tour
After years of making Bretons and French people vibrate, the group announces in May 2022 that a new arrival is joining their success: Léopold Riou as a new guitarist in place of Emmanuel Baroux and that Julien Carton is returning to keyboards! As a bonus, they released a double album, Miscellanées Bissextiles, a real return to their roots since we find an influence of Celtic rock, present on their first album La Ouache. This critically acclaimed double album also marks the start of a tour in 2023. Before closing these concert series in 2025, the group offers you an evening in Évreux that promises to be memorable!
See you at the Évreux racecourse on June 28 and 29, 2024!
